Apartments

In common with most of the other works in this series Apartments has a notational quality; the apartment block is a dusty rose coloured cube, the grass a patch of green, the street a simple ribbon of blue-purple, etc. The stencilling technique, even when it is supplemented with hand painting, won't allow a great deal finesse in details and rewards concision.

The foul 1980's pink block of flats was in the process of being repainted in a classier colour when I took the photo used for this painting and although it was an eyesore the colour provided a nice compositional focus.
