Pencil Pines

The people who planted this garden clearly liked some vertical scale - it is populated by pencil pines coupled with the improbable companions of long slender palms. The painting has been built up from a background layer of delicately tinted rosettes formed by carefully angling the stencil with each application. The effect when viewed from a distance is the sky resolves into a mauve haze.
